When it comes to E-Newsletters, content can make the difference on whether subscribers read through and take action. Content, or should I say lack of, is also the main culprit of why a newsletter doesn’t go out consistently.
So to help you out we are listing a few ideas broken down into four categories of what types of content could or should be included in your monthly newsletters.
This should be the first article that your subscribers should find and is often the source of the title of your E-Newsletter. It is going to be the part that establishes you as the expert in your industry. Here are a couple of ideas that you can use as content for this portion.
Tips, Advice, or How-To’s
Case Studies/Success Stories
Letter from the CEO, President, Founder, etc.
We normally suggest that you first publish this content as a blog that resides on your website. You can then add the first paragraph as a tease with a “read more” link that drives your readership to your website. This is a great way to increase traffic to your website.
We suggest picking one type of “Entertainment” content and be consistent with it. You will find that your readership will often engage more with this section then the above. Here are some examples of Entertainment pieces.
Include at least one testimonial to show off your expertise and give you some credibility. I would also include a link to a way for them to view additional testimonials. This could either sit on your website (increasing additional traffic to your site), Google, Facebook, or another source.
Announce to your subscribers upcoming events that you might be having like seminars, webinars, open houses, networking events, etc. This is a great way to increase registrations.
This seems the most obvious but is often forgotten about. Make sure you have your important contact information listed along with your social media links. Also make sure you make it easy for your subscribers to share your content.
This is a great way to build relationships with your referral partners. Invite them to be a guest blogger for your website. It is a great way to add valuable content to your subscribers without you having to write it AND gives content from a different perspective or topic. This can also be a way to attract a different readership and add subscribers as your guest blogger will most likely promote it to their audience.
The main thing I suggest is to create a plan and be consistent about the types of content you provide to your subscribers. You want to train your subscribers on what to expect when your E-Newsletter is delivered into their inbox.
I hope this helps and has given you a little inspiration for your next E-Newsletter.
